About the consultations

At the beginning of your acupuncture treatment Graeme will take a full medical history, look at your tongue and feel your pulse on both wrists. If you are presenting with symptoms of pain he will palpate the painful areas and check your range of movement.

Your Chinese Medical diagnosis will be discussed with you. Life style advice and exercises may be suggested and a treatment plan recommended. You will be asked to lie down on your back, front or side depending the treatment required.

You mainly keep your clothing on and the points requiring treatment are exposed. Between 3 and 20 acupoints will be selected. The insertion of the needles is generally painless though a dull, spreading or itching sensation may be felt.

It is important not to receive acupuncture on an empty stomach as this increases the possibility of dizziness. It is not necessary to wear any special clothing.

24 hours notice is required for cancellation. Cancellations made within the 24 hour period will incur a charge of the full fee.
